Coming after the box office performance of the blockbuster Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle, which grossed over $600 million at the box office, the new movie Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc has officially crossed the $100 million mark globally, reaching a global total of $108M during its debut. This movie beat out Black Phone 2 ($12.9M) in its sophomore frame in movie houses, as well as the film Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere featuring Jeremy Allen White ($9M).

Fan Engagement Campaigns Drive Box Office Dominance

Along with its affiliate Crunchyroll have effectively leveraged community involvement to drive their supremacy at the animated movie market. The movie's marketing campaign launched at Anime Expo Los Angeles in July with a MAPPA panel, special events, and Pochita-themed pictures, followed by a notable appearance at NYCC including exclusive clips, fan raffles, and further MAPPA discussions. Additionally, there was an exclusive fan screening for the public and content creators as well after the final day of the event.

Future Prospects

2025 stands as a major time for anime, and for the studio, which has another feature-length anime releasing this year in the film Jujutsu Kaisen: Execution in November.
